New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It consists of two main landmasses—the North Island and the South Island, and over 700 smaller islands. It has a total land mass of about 268,021 km2 (103,483 sq mi) and a population of 5,234,660 people by August 2023 estimate. New Zealand’s capital city is Wellington, and its most populous city is Auckland.

When you think of New Zealand, certain natural structures come to mind, such as glaciers, forests, mountains, pristine lands, and lots and lots of sheep. The country is considered the adventure capital of the world, and rightfully so because of the endless possibilities for hiking, skydiving, caving and bungy jumping.
