Turkey officially the Republic of Türkiye is a country located mainly on the Anatolian Peninsula in West Asia, with a small portion on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe. Turkey has a total area of 783,356 km2 (302,455 sq mi) and an estimated population of 85,279,553 people as of December 2022 estimate.

Most of the country’s citizens are ethnic Turks, while Kurds are the largest ethnic minority. Ankara, which is Turkey’s capital is also the second-largest city; while Istanbul is its largest city as well as the main financial centre.

Tourism in Turkey is focused largely on a variety of historical sites, and on seaside resorts along its Aegean and Mediterranean Sea coasts. Turkey has also become a popular destination for culture, spa, and health care.
